WDP-217-15 Water Leak Detection Paint (12 oz. Aerosol)
WDP-217 is an aerosol water leak detector/color change developer, which when sprayed on the points of suspected leaks (joints, welds, connections) forms a white powder. On contact with even very small water leaks it undergoes an irreversible blue-green color change at the exact point of the leak. The coating is non-toxic and can easily be removed with a damp cloth.
NOTE: New Improved WDP-217: The improvement in the formula has been designed to make the spraying and coating of the test object easier (SEE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW). The aerosol can is now fitted with a fan spray actuator. Fan spray actuators are typically used for paint spraying, creating a thinner, more controllable surface application. We welcome feedback on these changes.
Coverage: An aerosol can covers approximately 20-25 sq ft.
Colormetric detectors are rapid leak detectors and inexpensive to use. They react chemically with minute leaks causing a visible color change in the developer. WDP-217 color changes from white to blue-green. It can be used to detect water leaks up to 1x10-7 Std cm3/s
WHERE ARE COLORMETRIC LEAK TESTERS USED?
Colormetric developers are used to leak test large single and double walled tanks, pressure and vacuum vessels, laminated, lined or double-walled parts, complex piping systems, flexible containers (such as aircraft fuel tanks), glass-to-metal seals in hybrid packages and systems that inherently contain or will contain water. WDP-217 is used by plumbers, boat builders, construction engineers, vehicle manufacturers, and anyone else who needs to ensure a watertight seal.
Storage: Keep containers tightly closed in a dry, cool and well-ventilated place. 2 year shelf life. For industrial use only. Keep out of reach of children.
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Shake can well for 1-3 minutes after hearing the agitator ball to ensure a uniform mixture and prevent clogging.
2. Apply WDP-217 using a slow side-to-side sweeping motion. Spray several light coatings holding can perpendicular to the surface where monitoring is required. Recommended spray distance is 3-8" from the surface being sprayed.
3. Spray dries almost instantaneously and is ready for monitoring of leak.
4. To expel entire contents of can: align actuator opening with red dot on valve stem and spray.
4. To remove: brush off dry developer.
