FA-1A-28 Fluorescent Water Additive (4oz)
This concentrated liquid tracer contains corrosion inhibitors, surface tension reducers and water soluble powders which dry on the outside of a leak developing the exact point of leakage long after the water evaporates. FA-1A has increased sensitivity when wet and the indication is viewed with a black light. The dye can be removed by wiping with a dry cloth. It is chealated to perform in hard water. (ASTM 11.3.4)
FA-1A is both an additive for hydrostatic testing and used for leakage monitoring of water or glycol based systems. By adding FA-1A, a strong yellow-green fluorescence is visible at points of leakage when the exterior surface of the system is examined with a black-light. Leak indications must still be “wet” for fluorescence to be visible but a yellow powder is clearly visible when dry.
Sensitivity: Leaks as small as 1 x 10-4 cc/sec are found with FA-1A using a black light (less than one gallon of fluid loss per year).

MIXING RATIO: For best results when hydrostatic testing mix one part to 25 parts of water. Minimal stirring is required to achieve a homogenous solution. When used as a monitor, 1% by volume should be added to water or coolant mixture.
CAUTION: Rubber gloves and protective clothing should be worn when working with tracer dyes to avoid skin irritation.
